Rawalpindi: General Syed Asim Munir, NI(M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), held a significant meeting with the Ambassador of Palestine to Pakistan, His Excellency Ahmad Jawad Rabei at General Headquarters on Tuesday.

During this meeting, COAS conveyed Pakistan’s deep condolences for the loss of Palestinian lives in the ongoing war in Gaza and expressed serious concerns regarding the violence and indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians by the Israeli Defence Forces.

COAS articulated his profound concerns about the relentless attacks on the civilian population, schools, universities, aid workers, hospitals, and the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza. He stated that these actions constitute manifest crimes against humanity, and he urged an immediate cessation of hostilities, the opening of humanitarian corridors to Gaza, and the protection of civilians in compliance with International Humanitarian Law.

Furthermore, COAS reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the establishment of an independent, viable, and contiguous state of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

He underscored the significance of recognizing the root causes of the conflict, emphasizing that the recent surge of violence in Gaza stems from years of repression, human rights violations, and the desecration of the Al-Aqsa mosque. COAS stressed that labeling this situation as mere terrorism oversimplifies a complex issue and obscures the brutal oppression that has persisted for decades and culminated in this ongoing crisis.

COAS highlighted the urgent need for the international community to come together to end the unfolding human tragedy caused by the disproportionate and unlawful use of force by the Israeli Defence Forces.

He called on the world to refrain from encouraging further atrocities and to uphold the principles of civility and humane conduct. In this critical moment, COAS asserted that it is imperative for the international community to work collectively towards peace and justice in the region, putting an end to the suffering of innocent civilians and the violation of established norms.

This meeting between COAS and the Palestinian Ambassador underscores Pakistan’s firm stance in support of Palestinian rights, condemning violence against civilians, and advocating for a just and lasting solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Pakistan continues to be a vocal advocate for the Palestinian cause and a supporter of international efforts to resolve this long-standing and deeply rooted conflict.
